mandatory concussion training
Completion of the NFHS training, "Concussion in Sports – What You Need To Know," is mandatory to work HS basketball this season. The training is FREE, takes about 30 minutes to complete, and may be accessed as follows:

Log in or register for the NFHS Learning Center at https://www.nfhslearn.com/Registration.aspx
- you will see an asterisk (*) if you are required to complete a box
- you do not need the NFHS Number
- After login or registration, click on ‘Courses’ in the menu section at the top, ‘Free Courses’, and then ‘Concussion in Sports – What You Need To Know’
- Click ‘Order Now’ in the dark gray box listing this course name
- it is a free course, so no payment is required
- save California as the State and then click 'Checkout'
- click ‘Complete Checkout’
- To access the course, click the ‘here’ link on the receipt page or click the ‘My Homepage/Courses’ link.
- Click ‘Begin’ under the ‘My Available Courses’ header and complete the training (may open in a separate window; runs using Adobe Flash)
- After completion, refresh the ‘My Homepage’ window; you will see this course listed under the ‘Completed and Expired Courses’ header towards the bottom of the page
- Click ‘View/Print’ and save the course completion certificate PDF file to your computer
- FIRST-YEAR ONLY: if this is your first year with NCBOA, including transfers and associates, please email your certificate as an attachment to Michael McNeilly at MMcNeilly@NCBOA.net. Other members who submitted their certificate to the I.C. last year should keep the current certificate for your records.
Every official should print and carry with his/her gear the NFHS "Suggested Guidelines for Management of Concussion in Sports" tri-fold pamphlet. Also, add this topic to your pregame list, so your crew is prepared to recognize "any player who exhibits signs, symptoms, and behaviors consistent with a concussion."
